in your opinion, what has been the most significant transportation of the past 200 years?

The best way to describe innovations on transport economy sector in the last 200 years concerns the new modern railways and trains and his usefulness for trade. Indeed, the general political debate, especially during the last 20 years, was about the high-speed trains and the whole connection of European transport system.

It is considered by many that this kind of innovation system, which includes the construction of new railways in many valleys that is impossible to do it, can destroy a large part of the European land including its tradition. Furthermore, some local people of these valleys believe that a new intensive railway and modern train constructions could damage their houses and changes their lives forever.

By contrast, I disagree with them because in my study experience I found that the most significant innovation should come from technology changes. For instance, Nikola Tesla has discovered the possibility to distribute light all over the new metropolitan cities and trains, and without that discovery now it wouldn't be possible switching on our internal lights in the house.

To conclude, in history changing processes are quite complicated to describe it well and with a comprehensive view. However, transportation developments the industrialization did an important role because put together the two most important things, useful development for a new connected world and engineering discoveries. In my opinion, the positive and progressive impact in the new railway's implementation, as well as the positive approach of science in our lives, changed the point of view of transportation companies, especially in the last few years.
